Just fill out an application and sent it, along with a photo copy of your DD-214 (for Legion membership), and a check for the appropriate amount:

If you are on active duty today,
serving honorably, anywhere in the world,
or have served honorably during any
eligible war eras, you can become a member of
The American Legion!
----------------------------------------------------------------------- American Legion Auxiliary Membership Eligibility: A woman who is eligible for membership in The American Legion is also eligible to join the American Legion Auxiliary. The mother, wife, daughter, sister, grand-daughter, great-grand-daughter, or grandmother of members of The American Legion, and deceased veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during the listed war eras. Step relatives are also eligible. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sons of The American Legion Eligibility: All male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of The American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in the service during World War I, World War II, and Korean War, the Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, and the Persian Gulf War, during the delimiting periods (see above dates) or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of The American Legion. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Membership eligibility information is on also each application.
